Rated 5 out of 5 by from a real diva dress! oh yes, this is a great dress, just not in the way one might suppose! I had a great deal of fun working with these two items (it is indeed a two piece, separate put together ensemble). When I received the outfit, I put it on and it just did not look right. I had not ordered the Obi belt, which I am now about to do for another outfit, and almost decided to return the La Scala dress when I pieced it out, putting the top with another angled black lace tunic piece , from a French designer, and it made a great and original tunic for pants or leggins. The nicely tight knit skinny strapped sheath dress looked great belted and with a cropped top from yet another French designer *no names*! The La Scala dress slip also worked great as an actual slip under another dress I ordered, the Pickford dress. It wasn't lumpy at all and adhered well underneath the Pickford, an elegant dress I wore to the opera. La Scala dress went to the opera, then, just half of it though, and I look forward to combining these two separate and high quality items with other PC sweaters and other designers I love, as well. Very basic sheath is very versatile. The lace with a tiny touch of lurex-not gaudy or overdone--is very luxe looking and feeling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Elegant! I bought the Medium and it fits like a glove. It skims my curves and is slimming and elegant without being sedate. I think it works with or without the belt, affording two different looks. In fact, the slip dress looks nice with a crocheted black and plum PC sweater from a few years back, and would probably go with any dark, lacy top. I agree with the previous reviewer that the dress looks a bit heavy in the online photo; I think the problem is the opaque tights. I plan to wear the dress with semi-sheer or sheer black hose. I am 5'5" and wish the dress were an inch or two shorter--but this is nitpicking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Photo Versus Reality: A Pleasant Surprise Sometimes an internet photo does an item more justice it deserves; sometimes it doesn't do it enough justice. This dress fits within the latter category. While it appears matronly in the internet photo, it is not. It is youthful, stylish and slimming all at once. It has a gentle curve at the waist and a simple beauty that speaks for itself -- it doesn't need enhancements. In fact, the belt seems to detract from the unique combination of the sloping hem of the tunic and the dress underneath (whose length is just right for the style). I had expected that I'd likely send the dress back; my expectations were pleasantly reversed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor Quality The underdress does not keep its shape - became very seated. Stitching in side seam has come undone. I would like a refund of some description because I will have to buy something to wear under the tunic.
